Homecoming SOS
It is that wonderful time again
We are beginning the planning for the return of our dearly missed soldiers. Hello HHC Families & Friends, our FRG is sending out this SOS because, we need your help and the help of your families & whom ever you can recruit.
I can not ask for donations. We are not allowed to do that. But, what I can do is let you know what we want to do and hope that you, your family and friends want to help us achieve our goal.
This is what we want to do. We want to go into the barracks and make the rooms comfy for the incoming soldiers. What we did last time was, made their beds, laid out towels, razors, laundry soap, candy bars on the pillows and so on. We are limited to what we can do here at the base and that is why I am coming to you with the SOS. We want to do the same thing as last time. Except that we want to do more. We want to make little lunch sacks to hand the soldiers as they are getting off of the plane. We want to place hygiene supplies and laundry supplies and fresh bed & bathing linens in the rooms. We can not do those wonderful things without the love and help of our family members. Please let me know what you can do to help us make this homecoming eventful and comfy for the soldiers.
Some of you from the last deployment really helped us out a lot. We need the same help this time that we were given last time. I look forward to hearing from you. Please send this out to more of your family members or churches here or back home so that they are given the wonderful opportunity to dig into making this return home fun and memorable.
I look forward to hearing from you and I have a list of what we need to accomplish our goal. We are starting this early so that we have everything in place when its’ time to run into the barracks last minute and get them all set up. So, if you are needing any info from that list, please feel free to email me. I look forward to working with you. This is going to be great!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone,
When the soldiers return from a deployment they often have a lot of things to deal with especially in the first week when they are going through the transition program. One of the things that the family readiness group tries to do is provide them with some comfort when they are going through this time such as providing them with snacks and other comfort items they may be missing. People often forget that single soldiers go into an empty barracks rooms when they get back from a deployment all of their personal items are still in storage for several days or weeks after they arrive home. So we try to provide them with all the basics they need like sheets, towels, soap, etc (see list below). Unfortunately these items are not provided by the army they are provided by us through donations. I am sending out this list in hopes that some of you may be able to help by providing some of the items, making a donation or by sending this email along to someone who may be able to help. Anything would be appreciated. If you would like more information just let me know. As we all know these guys have been through a lot and I know they really apperciate having clean sheets to sleep on and some basic necessities waiting for them when they get home.
Thanks,
Melissa
