You gotta fight for your right to be racist, misogynistic and homophobic.

Not all humor is based on demeaning people. Seriously? And I didn't find your article offensive, just stupid.

Essentially, all humor, is based off of someone or something failing. Most modern humor is based off of demeaning people. Especially when you look at Family Guy, South Park, or generally any comedian. Point out one comedian, who hasn't made his career out of pointing out a group of people and making light of their situation.

At the same time, if I was talking about catholic priest or any other group than those mentioned, you wouldn't even be having this conversation. The only reason, is because of the language used and the vague context in which it was used.

I stand on the middle ground on this, since I'm almost close to being atheist.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but make sure the speech that one has does not take other's freedom of speech away too.

Bully in schools and institutions should not be taken lightly. It is an age old problem, everyone should be responsible for this and everyone should not keep quiet. We tend to take these matters so lightly until we get into deep shit one day.

On the other hand, I like watching Family Guy, especially the shows making stereotypes of Asians and stuff. I don't really care so much on it. 8)

To add to this, I once watched a Family Guy episode where there was a cutaway joke on "crashing like an asian driver".

Lol'ed at this, and I'm an asian. I could agree on that, some drivers in Asia can be very wilD!

Yeah, and now you have the CHris Rock conterversey everyone is steaming over. I don't think anyone should be insensitive but there is such a thing as over sensitivity and generally everything could offend someone. I could see people getting pissed that Star Trek is racist against Romulans and Star Wars was negative propaganda for the dark side of the force. What's really odd are the religious wacko's who bitch about the pron shops around here but then turn around expecting people not to bitch about their views.

Are you comparing the centuries-old systematic oppression of non-whites by European imperialists to Star Trek fanboyism? Go hang yourself.

Yeah what the hell is that Stephen? Your examples are pretty terrible and unconvincing. This girl got a tattoo but I still can't call her a filthy cunt WOW CENSORSHIP. Gay people are so uptight I can't even go to one of their pride parades and call them fags OH MY GOD WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO. Black people call each other nigga but they get offended when I do WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH AIRLINE PEANUTS?

I would probably agree with your article if you were talking about members of majority groups who complain about discrimination (the men's rights morons, Christian culture warriors crying about Happy Holidays, white supremacists who argue reverse-racism like its something that actually exists) but instead you, as a white male, piled on minorities with an actual target on their back for being too sensitive. It's about what I expected from a tone-deaf sociopath.

"Someone said a bad word, that means I can and should." You are dense.

No, that has nothing to do with it. It has to do with artist intent and we all know if Patti Smith did this song now people would bitch. Everyone would bitch because of a word, not it's use, not the way it's being portrayed, but because they think they are doing something for the greater good but it doesn't make things any better.

If you were to remove everything from society, that either is or potentially is offensive, you would be left with nothing. People jumped on Chris Rock about his statement on twitter and Gwynyth Paltrow because of her use of the word Nigga. At no point did anyone look at word usage or what was actually being said. I would also tell you that I believe in empowerment more than I do anything else.

Think that anyone is born with a target on their back is fucking stupid. Your only as strong or as weak as you make yourself and I know a lot of black people who wouldn't appreciate you talking about the black expirience. You don't know, your white, so any assumption either way is racist. I also know a lot of neo-feminist that would tell you that don't need a man sticking up for them and I appreciate that view.

I appreciate it a lot better than a group of white privaleged people, thinking they know what's best for another group. No, Patti Smith was right in making this song and more people should hear it. It's not a matter of whether language is ok or not but the intent behind it. I guess you are to dense to get that.

No, see, the point is: You don't get to choose. You're an angsty white male who is bad at writing. That does not give you racist artistic license. Your "many black and neo-feminist friends" are irrelevant to this discussion. You are not unique or original for suggesting that white men should be allowed to say racist words and phrases.

I am saying that everyone has that right. Not just white men, women, or anybody. Everyone deserves an equal playing field when it comes to speech and yes I get to choose. We all get to choose because we are individuals. Not because of any one particular reason and everyone has a right to choose words that prove a point.

It has nothing to do with promoting racism, sexism, homophobia. It has to do with promoting free speech and equal discourse in arguments. No, they are relevant. Everyone is relevant and when you marginalize anyone or say to speak for a group, then you are no better than anyone else.

It's not about being unique or original. No body is unique or original. Every thought we have someone else has had it before us. The we are snow flakes mentality is completely stupid. Anyone should be allowed to say anytin they want because there is something more beyond the words.
