#19 Postal 2

Postal 2 - Petition

While I called this game over rated last night, it's still one everyone needs to play. It's a brilliant social satire and in a lot of ways, has a lot more going for it than reviewers ever gave it credit for. It's one of the rare instances, in my opinion, people can rant about one piece of the art, and neglect to mention anything else.

#18 Hitman

Hitman Blood Money Curtains Down Silent Assassin

A lot of people, bitch about the first of this series. It's actually, a pretty good game if you can find it cheap. The mixature of stealth, and the endless difficulty of the missions, makes it something unique in the game world. A sequel is do out soon.

#17 No More Heroes

No more heroes trailer

This, and the next title, are the only two truly great Wii titles. I champion Suda 51, because he does have an interesting vision when it comes to games. Nothing ends exactly the way you think it would, and often enough, you are left with something funny as well as original. That being said, if you own a Wii, you have got to play this game.

#16 Mad World

MadWorld (Wii) E3 Trailer

It takes balls, to make a game in black and white. This is a brilliant take on reality television and media violence. It made a statement, and was released on the Wii. It's also great to play, I am disappointed, that this game didn't see releases on other systems. Occasionally, Nintendo can do right by it's fans. This is one of those rare occasions.

#15 Neo Geo Arcade Cabinets

Neo Geo MVS Arcade

I last saw one of these at a pawn shop, with a 3000 dollar price tag. SOme of the best arcade games, were released on one cabinet. Every gamer, needs to atleast lay their hands on one if they have the oppurtunity. Every game from Samurai Showdown, Metal Slug, Ghost Pilots, and King Of The Fighters, could be found here. You didn't have to move from a cabinet to find a great game.

#14 Pong

OUTTAKE FROM 'FROM BEDROOMS TO BILLIONS' - ARCHER ON PONG. (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

I decided to use an out take from the Indiegogo documentary Bedrooms To Billions, to help sell this point. Every gamer, needs to check out Pong atleast once. If for no other reason, than to respect the idea, that simplcity always breeds the best games. Pong, was simple to controll, fun to play, and spread quickly across a broad range of people. We wouldn't even have video games today, without this game.

#13 Street Fighter

Street Fighter 1 Completed Part 1/2 (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

This was the birth, of the 2D fighter. It had two selectable characters, Ken and Ryu. It's also, largely over shadowed by the games proceeding it. So much so, that most people think the series starts at two. Is it the best fighting game? No, but it does show how a series can evolve into something revolutionary over time.

#12 Ninja Gaiden 3 (X-Box 360)

NINJA GAIDEN 3 - OFFICIAL LAUNCH TRAILER (HD) (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

If you want to know how a series can take a very bad turn, look no farther than Ninja Gaiden 3. People may think I should have picked Postal 3 or Mass Effect 3, but this one is actually so god awful, it needs to be rented just so you can appreciate good games better. The whole game, can be played in about 90 minutes, the online multi-player is rediculously awful, and the graphics are a step below the first game in the reboot franchise. This game is an abortion, I hate to say that, but you need to rent it to truely understand it, but for no reason buy a copy.

#11 Postal 3

Postal 3 - Trailer E3 2011 (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

This is an example of best laid plans, more than Daikatana, and even more than any other game in recent years. No one, wanted this game to end up the way it did, and expecially with as many polarized views as it had on it. Everyone should play it, just to form an opinion. I am still on the fence about it, but it's safe to say, that it didn't turn out the way anyone expected.

#10 Hexan

Hexan (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

You wouldn't have a lot of the First-Person RPG's, you have today, without Hexan. Developed by ID and Ravensoft, this was the first smooth forray into this kind of game play. You had games like AD&D Eye Of The Beholder, and others, but this one did it differently. Adding more action elements, than RPG, it brough a mix of gamers together. It's also largely forgotten about now.

#9 Parasite Eve

Parasite Eve Trailer (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

This wasn't quite a shooter, or an RPG, but it seemed to offer something very different for it's time. It was based off of an obscure, Japanese novel, but gathered a cult following the states. The most recent sequel, got buried on the PSP. I haven't heard of anything being released to the consoles either. This was a great game, blending survival horror, RPG elements, and action. It needs to be played.

#8 Mario Paint

SNES / Mario Paint - BGM Opening Credits (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

This is the most violent game, that Nintendo has ever released. You can use your imagination, and draw a picture of Mario, fucking Princess Peaches decapitated skull. I have a signed Dr. Pepper can for who ever does this first.

#7 Darfur Is Dying

Darfur is Dying Game Demo (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

Do you want to know why, every game company is going overly dramatic now? It's partly because of this game, and how it's moved the "serious games" movement. Games that touch on world issues in a serious manner, in order to get the gamer more aware of what's going on. Whether you like it or not, you should check it out just to see why games are going the direction they are.

#6 Any Text Based RPG

Dark Dungeon-Text Batch RPG (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

These were big, in the late 70's and early 80's, on home computers. This is pure story driven game play, you actually had to draw someone in on words alone. These were like choose your own adventure books, except a little more advanced, and without all the page turning. They had their time, and it's a sad thing we don't see many of them. Every gamer, needs to play one atleast once.

#5 Shadow Gate

Shadowgate - NES Gameplay (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

This game, had more was to kill you, than any other modern game I can think of. The whole premise, is based around you, traveling through this castle. I have never finished it, but I have an appreciation for it. It's hard as fuck, and nearly impossible to master. This game coined, save early, save often.

#4 Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider PS1 Openning Level Pt 1 of 2 (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

Mario 64, is created with giving birth to the 3-D platformer. I honestly think, Tomb Raider, was much better over all. The gameplay was dynamic, the controls were decent for the time, and it had a hot female lead. It's better than staring at plumber ass for 60 plus hours.

#3 Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid Playthrough pt.1 (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

To some extent, over rated, it does have it's ground breaking qualities. It introduced dynamic characters, cinamatic story lines, and offered a mature story on a home console. You need to check out the original, just once, because after that, the series just got goofier and goofier.

#2 Nightmare Creatures

Nightmare Creatures - lvl 1 (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

Devil May Cry, is often referred to as the grand father of the 3-D beat-em up genre. I beg to differ, Nightmare Creatures, was a cool game and did something different with horror themes. At the time, you had to do a survival horror story line, in order to do well on the market. While it doesn't get much recognition now, this is one of the better PS1 games and it needs to be played by more people.

#1 Binary Domain

Binary Domain 'Bigger than you Think' (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

This is a great, complete game. The AI is amazing, the story is great, and it's massively under rated. Honestly, I can honestly suggest this game to almost anyone, and they wouldn't be disapointed. You might disagree with me, but this is a great game, and it needs to played by a lot more people.

I wish I'd never had played P3, to be honest.  Dunno I'd regard this as a game you should play as a Postal fan, even to make a judgement.

I wish The Suffering or The Suffering 2 The Ties That Bind could of made it on the list. In my opinion, they are very underrated games and definitely a must have! But again that is my opinion.

That's a great title, but I don't know if I would recomend it off the bat to new gamers. I loved the commentary you unlocked after you beat the first one, and how the ending of the first game, gae a different character to the second game. It was an amazing title, but is it something that every gamer needs to check out coming fresh into the industry?

I would say yes, if I had more space. I could cover a whole list of unappreciated games and overappreciated ones. You could through titles back and forth all day. Columns, is anothergood puzzle title that doesn't get appreciated enough. I though it played a 1000 times better than Dr. Mario, and should still have a relevancy here in today's gaming enviroment.

I actually, didn't include any, or very puzzle games in this list, hoping someone would mention one. Bust-A-Move, being one of the greatest titles, that seldomly gets mentioned now. We seldomly talk about the effect it had on gaming or how many people tried to copy it's unique gameplay. I didn't mention in length how Postal 2, changed the industry for the better. How without it, we probably wouldn't have heard of Suda51 or some of the other creating divergent and comedic games.

So do me a favor, if you think something needed to be mentioned, toss it out here. It's great to hear other people's thoughts on subjects and also makes me rethink what gaming is.

I also have another honorable mention. This game in my opinion is one the most brilliant games made of all time and sadly this one is so under appreciated it's unbelievable! And that game is Omikron: The Nomad Soul. Why I say this one should be mentioned as well. Well the fact being is that this game has a very unique story plot: You enter the game only to find out it's a trap. A trap that takes the players "soul" into the game as many souls did before them and the only way to free your "soul" is to defeat the demon that devours the "souls of many players"and free your own. In Omikron (A in-closed futuristic city ruled by an Iron Fist) your "soul" has the ablity to tranfer from person to person and you control that person in order to succeed through the game and defeat those demons. If you guys don't know or don't remember what I'm talking about, maybe this will help you:
Omikron Introduction video

Not only that it has such a unique story plot, it was by far way ahead of it's time. This game came out in 1999 (sadly I was too young to know this game existed and just found out about this game last year) and some of the games that are out today are similar to some of the elements in this game. Not the unique story plot (unfortunately) but the open world sandbox element, first-person shooter element, driving element, and much more. So in a way, this game helped paved the way with some of its elements that are in todays games. Now granted this game did not have amazing graphics like todays games (Uh duh, it was made in 1999 people! What did you expect back then) but I personally think that amazing graphics doesn't always mean a great game.

And lastly David Fucking Bowie was on this game!!!! That was one of the main reasons why I love this game because anything with David Bowie in it is a huge win for me! He plays two characters in this game a lead singer in a Band called The Dreamers and a mystical being that exists in purely electronic form on the computer networks of Omikron named Boz. Here is David Bowie as the lead singer singing one of my favorite songs from his 'hours album Pretty Things are Going to Hell:
Omikron- The nomad soul : The Dreamers concert - The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell

So that is why this game should have been mentioned and should be played by any gamer who hasn't heard of this. This is one of those "Rare Gem" games that have all the great elements of a great game but it is sadly never appreciated as it should of been.

EVeryone, should probably make themselves familiar with the Dreamcast. It was a great system, and in many ways ahead of it's time. Not just the games, but how Sega presented them and the VMU. They had a great homebrew community backing it, and a lot of people just missed out on how impressive the Dreamcast actually was.

It just couldn't keep pace against Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo in the last generation. The sports titles, were slick in their own way. The RPG's, the few they released here, were great. The list could go on forever, but most people wont go but one and find out. Maybe it will see a second birth in the emulation segment, but I doubt it. There just wasn't enough good said about the Dreamcast at the time.

So yeah, I own an original copy of Omikron, and it's a bad ass title. So was Iakruga, Borderdown, Skies Of Arcadia, and a list of others that people just didn't back on the DC. I guess that's why they got births on the PS2, GC, and X-Box. I hope we get to hear more about them later, when people start looking back at what Sega was doing.

The Saturn, was under rated for it's time. It had built in storage, which was nice compared to the Playstation. I think the problem with Sega was a two pronged issue near the end. 1. was price point especially with the Saturn 2. was the game selection they had.

They had a President of Licensure, who was a real idiot. They wouldn't back turn based RPG's on the Saturn, and they thought the future was in arcade style games. I think, they also lost a lot of money during the 16 bit era with their add ons. They tried treating their systems, like computers and it didn't quite work the way they wanted it too.

Soldier Of Fortune, was a brilliant game and I was kind of sadden that Payback, fell so short. I have to admit, I have never played Oni, but I have been told a lot to check it out.

I'm suprised people still know about Hexen.I still have a DOS and I have Hexen for it. I love being retro. It's like Doom + World of Warcraft - all of the low lifers. Also, my dad lets me play it even though it's M. BTW how can I type an article?

Unfortunately, Dreamcast and Saturn did not probably exist in my nation, due to the very high cost of these games and the console themselves. When I heard of these, many of us had already owned Pentium II/III or K6-2s and gaming on more first person shooters like Counter-Strike. That was in 2000 and 2001.

Back then the Nintendo64 was the best thing on earth, and those catridges are drop-dead expensive. I only managed to see Mario Kart and Warzone in N64 and the graphics were amazing. Meanwhile, during these period, the pirated NES/SNES/Genesis catridges are very rampant and even  modified editions are sold to fool the kids.

Until now I never had a chance to see/touch a Dreamcast. Probably some people there had bought it but getting a second hand will be a painful task.

While the Dreamcast was ahead of it's time and a great system (first to do online gaming too) the Saturn deserved to fail.... It came out at the same time as the PS1 at the same price, but it was not able to produce the 3D graphics the PS1 could manage (if you ever saw the Saturn's version of Tomb Raider and Die Hard Trilogy you'd know what I mean, the PS1 version was much better looking).  Some good games sure, but Sega didn't really get the Saturn right.  The failure of the DreamCast was sad though as it was a great system that really was ahead of it's time in so many ways.
