One of my readers sent me an article. It was posted on the old website I worked for calling people to use their real names when they post comments on articles and in forums. I didn't think much about it until I heard that this is a big movement out there. A movement for people to start being linked to what they say in the cyber world in real life.
I, hate this stupid idea. Do you really want employers knowing why you think hookers and blow are better than church? I have been a ghost writer, I don't get credit for a lot of shit I have written. Nor do I want it really considering the content of what it was I was discussing. There is only one real reason why anybody would want to remove an anonymous aspect to the internet and that is accountability.
I don't hide my kinks. I am kind of a strange cat but I live with it well. I think somewhere in the chaos of GG Allin's performances, there was art. I think some porn stars could make really great legitimate actresses, if they were only allowed to cross over and do something different. I think we could delete 90 percent of the internet, and be better off for it. I also think it is your right, to say what you think and be able to protect your full time job.
I don't want to get overtly political but a Marine was discharged because of statements he made on Facebook. That right there should be enough for anyone not to want to own everything they say. Yeah, there are trolls and douche bags. I would rather deal with them, than to have someone elses opinion stripped from them.
I don't use a handle by choice. I enjoy being able to communicate with people and have them know who they are reading. It's also a marketing thing, because as a writer, your name is your brand. Bill Kunkel, was mentioned on a post not to long ago. I had to shake my head a little bit because I didn't recognize the name. I do recognize The Game Doctor.
Couldn't you imagine the cluster fuck you would have with common names? Do you know how many douche-bags are named Aiden in the United States alone? Millions, and we would have multiple overlaps as well as other bullshit. It's just a bad idea as a whole.
I don't need the whole world knowing, that at one point, I hung out in furry forums to hook up with a hot chick dressed as a raccoon. I don't need everyone knowing that I thought the Vibratron 3000, was just to high in price for a four way dildo/tire tool. It's simple, not everything we say, is who we are.
