Attention Windows 8.1 users
« on: January 09, 2014, 04:21:01 AM »
Having been using a Windows 8.1 machine as of late, i installed my copy of Postal 3 and decided to check up on the issue that Win8.1 users have been having with the ActControl DRM, and yeah - it was still a problem. Which was odd since my last runs of the game on a regular Windows 8 machine completely bypassed and ignored the DRM. It's very odd, and makes me wonder about what is so different in Win8.1.

However, there are Good News for all you having problems! I can safely confirm that using the NODRM fix found in THIS THREAD fixes the problem completely. The need for the ActControl (and even Steam) DRM is removed, and you can get into the game directly! (if you want to still run the game through Steam with the in-game menu, then just make sure you run the game through steam, and not through the .exe file).

So now, all you poor Win8.1 souls get to play the game, and enjoy P3 like god intended that you do!

In addition, there is a consistent glitch I've encountered, and I've seen other Windows 8.1 users report it as well - using throwable weapons immediately crashes the game. This is especially prolematic in the opening level of the game, where you are only equipped with grenades to kill a small group of zombies. So far, the only workaround I've noticed is to "place" the grenades next to the zombies instead of throwing them, using the right mouse button. If you actually engage in the act of winding up your throw, it seems that the game will crash without fail.

I find these issues with Windows 8.1 just as confusing as you, especially since I encountered none of them on a regular Windows 8 machine.

Your comments on P3 matters are much more worth than the game itself -
I've been waiting for years to finally get that fuckn game. Fuckfinger134 and me ordered it from Austria, each of us paid
30 euros and already the intro with the grenades told us - this is kind of bullshit!?
But Mrs. Walcott kept us in a good mood to keep playing a few levels! :-*
