How's the progress now, Heather?? Are you still chancing upon that hot dude?? :)

I missed my college days where I could check out these kind of dudes during the lecture. It helps me to focus on my studies. Oh well, I can't complain much.  :)

Or he could just be telling a story that this thread reminded him of, D is not a racist guy. Still, in the interest of balancing things out, I can hand on heart say that any terrible driving I've witnessed in the past has mostly been at the hands of a white male. Damn Caucasian drivers!

Humans behind wheels are mostly badly behaved. It's not just to one type of people in this Earth.

Being an Asian, I don't feel offended by the thread. Everyone can be bad drivers, actually.

Oh dear. I'm an Asian. Not all Asians drive their cars or vehicles badly.

12-pack is pretty cool. Too bad I'm not that turned on by 12-pack. I'm more into bears. I mean the tougher ones. :)

I used to own a few CRTs until the flickering made my eyes hurt, and that high-pitch whine annoyed the hell out of me. Only CRTs left in the home are the 29" Wega and the 16" Aiwa ones. They are the decent ones.

The CRTs for the computers varies during my time, it's the Samsung Samtron and the Syncmaster. Honestly, they went busted after a few years.

I'm not concious about a DVD player, we have it at home, but nowadays with that media player box which plays video files from USB flash stick... you know the rest of it!  :)

Me too! I fear the the day it goes out and I have to find somebody willing to lug 160 pounds out of a 3rd floor apartment and all the way to Ewaste.

I don't know what to do with mine if it went busted. I keep hoping it won't, so that I don't have to drag these thing to the junkyard. Honestly, it's heavier than me!

What's wrong with CRTs? My PC has CRT and it produces black which is better than all my LCDs. LCD sucks as a technology.

The colours went washed out on the CRT. It's been more than 10 years already I have these and it becomes quite blurry. Some of my older CRTs have the very high pitch whine and the flickering which can be very annoying.

However, talking about LCD, even my 6-year old Samsung LCD colors get washed out. It can't be fixed anymore, so I have to live with it. :)

OLED, at another topic, is quite dangerous especially in tropics like where I'm living. Two (2) of my Creative MP3 players have these OLED panels which gets discoloured and then broken down and I do not have replacements for these anymore. Therefore, on my desk is these useless pieces of shit. I barely own them for just 1 1/2 years after purchase and I felt that it's made to commit suicide after 1 year. Daaaamn.

I'd like to try a PS4, but I'm still stuck with a bucket-ass old flat-screen CRT. Maybe later when I got the chance to change the TV set...  :)

Ugh! So much shit (literally and metaphorically) in Facebook!

That's why I don't use them. It's for people who are showing their shits (literally and/or metaphorically) to each other, and giving shit also.(literally and/or metaphorically)

Might as well I could call it "shitbook", or "fecebook". Sums it all up. :)

I tried to like the new start menu, so far I don't dig it, even on a touch based device. I like synergy across platforms, right now I used Android for phone, and Google's services like Gmail, Drive, Calendar ect.  I'd actually kinda like to have it all Windows based as I will always need Windows for various programs, and having a x86 based tablet I could run them all on would be sweet. But I'm less than convinced with Windows 8 so far, Windows phone ect, so I'll not be making the jump anytime soon.

Maybe Windows 9 or the coming 'blue' add-on packs will tempt me away.

So far all games I've tried work as well on 8 as 7, including (thankfully) P1 and P2.

Those tiles work when you have a touch screen. Many case when I see tiles in laptops with Win8 I have a compulsion to touch them, but they don't work that way because there's no touch sensors. Some desktops have touch screens, so Win8 is ideal on these.

The most difficult thing about these 'apps' or 'tiles' is, everytime you launch them, it pushes you away from the desktop. You have to reach back the desktop after you are done with the app, or you have something else to do in the meantime, like answering emails.

Other than that, the Win8 is surprisingly stable. I expected a BSOD, but didn't get any (knocks on wood) when I get that upgrade from a very old laptop which bought in 2009.

I might get myself a Lumia soon, but I heard a lot of not so good reviews all over. The newer Lumias are with dual-cores and more RAM, so these might change.

I liked OpenOffice but the thing about the formatting, the margins and stuff are not easy to handle, unlike Word series. They kept running a lot away! Plus, I'm too used to the Math toolbox on the Word, it would be much tougher to do it on OpenOffice since I had to key in equations and stuff. :)

I never tried it. Reason is simple: my notebook has shitty graphics adapter inside.

I have another desktop but I just refused to install W8 inside due to the amount of software I have to reactivate again and have anxiety whether my graphics card will work in W8 or not. Not gonna try it though.  :)
